Whether you’re trying to navigate your local quarry, find your way on a massive reef, or out in the open, our underwater navigation course provides you the tools, insight & confidence to find your intended locations (& make it back home again) when diving while increasing safe diving practices.

What to expect in this course:
The navigation course is a fun yet challenging course in which you’ll learn to use a compass, natural features, & the environment to successfully navigate underwater. Your instructor will lay out increasingly complex courses to navigate & walk you through the process in how to do so successfully.
Who this class is for:
- The certified diver looking for a higher sense of direction & orientation while scuba diving
 - Certified divers in areas where surface swimming isn’t advisable
 - Certified divers who enjoy planning & executing specific dive routes
 - Certified divers who often get lost
 - Certified divers who will be doing self-guided diving & want to make it back to their starting point
 
Our Navigation certification class fee includes:
- 3 instructor-supervised dives in open water
 - Your online learning, tests, & instructor review
 - Navigation certification e-card & processing fees.
 
What you will learn:
- How to use the aquatic environment to navigate
 - How to use natural navigation aids
 - Compass types, usage, & features
 - Underwater distance estimation techniques
 - Navigating simple & complex patterns
 - Dive planning using navigational markers
 
Course Requirements:
Navigation certification prerequisites:
- 10 years or older (Under 18 requires parental consent)
 - Open water diving certification
 - Approved diver medical form
 - Liability waiver
 
Gear requirements:
- Standard scuba gear (regulators, BCD, weights, tanks, computer – available for rental)
 - Personal scuba gear (mask, fin, snorkel, boots – student must provide)
 - Compass (digital or analog)
 - Underwater Slate
 
Class requirements:
- Satisfactorily complete the online learning course
 - Complete all open water requirements efficiently
 - Demonstrate various navigation techniques & achieve navigation goals set by instructor
 - Ensure the certifying agency has your photo on their website (no hats or sunglasses)
 
Time requirements:
- 2 – 3 hours for online learning
 - 6 – 12 hours of instructor led surface & in-water training
