The Divers Alert Network (DAN) IQC certifies you as an instructor qualified to teach and certifiy students in BLS, DFA & Emergency O2. While this instructor qualification program is designed for scuba professionals, it is open to everyone who is a teacher or instructor in their field*.

What to expect in this course:

The DAN IQC course is a 4 day certification (2 days on digital online learning, 2 days of in-person training) course which, upon completion, certifies you to teach & certify students in BLS, DFA & Emergency Oxygen. DAN is the industry leader for knowledge presentations which includes 71 out of 74 ILCORP (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) sections, the most out of any scuba related program.

Course Requirements:

Divemaster certification prerequisites:

  • Minimum age 18
  • Certified Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent; advanced certification must include verifiable experience in deep, navigation, night, and limited visibility specialties
  • Certified Rescue Diver
  • Provide proof of current CPR, first aid, & oxygen provider (where local law permits)
  • Provided proof of at least 40 logged dives (contact us for number of dives/hours required for graduation)
  • Approved diver medical forms
  • Liability waiver

Gear requirements:

  • Standard scuba gear (regulators, BCD, weights, tanks, wetsuit, SMB, computer)
  • Personal Snorkeling gear (mask, fins, snorkel, boots- must own)

Class requirements:

  • Satisfactorily complete the Divemaster written examination, or online version
  • Complete all in-water requirements
  • Demonstrate to an active Instructor the ability to solve in-water and out-of-water diver problems
  • Demonstrate mature and sound judgment concerning dive planning & execution
  • Operate as a Divemaster in a wide variety of environments
  • Upload a photo to the certifying agency's website (no hats or sunglasses)

Time Requirements:

  • 10-16 hours for online learning
  • 10-12 hours of confined water instructor assistance
  • 10-12 hours of open water course instructor assistance
  • 30+ hours of open water training
